I’ve been really into looking at complex diagrams with great deals of detail. While in a courtroom setting, we’ve got less time to get a point across, particularly in an electronic demonstrative, some of these more detailed explanations are definitely giving me some inspiration.
John Grimwade’s portfolio is really cool, and I had the pleasure of talking to Lin Wilson from Funnel design and was super impressed by their stuff and approach.
John Grimwade’s portfolio reminds me of the full two page diagram spreads from Wired or National Geographic magazines. Wired has a unique style to their graphics and uses simplified icons almost for everything, throwing in detailed illustrations only where necessary. Lately I have been trying to get inspirations for showing complex diagrams from both of these magazines, and they are definitly worth to check out, and add to a designers reference/research folder.
This is our reference folder! I’d love to see the Wired stuff if there’s stuff you like a lot.
